Spending the night at the Dorsett in London

It’s midnight, we’re exhausted, but we’ve finally arrived at our temporary London Home: Dorsett Shepherds Bush! You might be surprised and think: “but isn’t the flight from Amsterdam to London less than 1 hour”? That’s right, but let’s just say making our way from Stansted airport to central London by public transport isn’t a journey I’d highly recommend you to make.

Room with a view, please.
Anyway, end good all good, because our beautiful room at the 8th floor has high windows all around for a great view over the city! Despite the late hour, we stay up for a while chatting and drinking a glass of wine after slipping on our comfy Dorsett bathrobes. Let the London fun begin.

Design
The Dorsett Shepherds Bush hotel is a former 1920s movie theatre and knowing that totally adds to the cool factor of the already impressive façade and interior of the building. In the morning we’re excited to see the room by day light and love what we see. Subtly Asian-inspired interior details (check out the wall paper in the pictures below) and a comfortable home-like atmosphere with little touches such as magazines, in room coffee and tea and more. The weather isn’t too great that day, which is a good excuse to take extra-long having breakfast and drinking coffee to start the day. Downstairs in the lobby you’ll be wowed by the cool design, art on the walls, high ceilings and wooden details!

Where are we?
We arrived late at night so waking up in the morning we had no clue whatsoever about the area we’re in. Turns out it’s really conveniently located near to Notting Hill, Kensington and London’s West End. By tube it took us no longer than 10 minutes to get to Oxford Circus. Score! The underground station is a 2 minute walk from the hotel, making getting around in London easy peasy. Now that’s what we need! Getting around by tube really is the quickest way to see the city in a short amount of time, so we couldn’t be happier.

Ready, set, shoot!
A room so pretty has to be captured on camera, of course. My outfit of the day evolves around a high neck printed midi dress from Oasis that has a bit of a 50s feel to it and has an incredibly flattering fit. If I may say so myself! I’m wearing it along with a pair of pointy flats, some silver accessories and neutral make-up. Earlier that morning I found out I forgot both my blush and my eye shadow, so I had to be creative and use my eyebrow powder as eye shadow instead. Pretty surprised how well it turned out.

Conclusion…
A super comfortable yet very short stay with the most welcoming and helpful staff, beautiful designed rooms at a very convenient location for exploring London. Away from the hectic bustle, yet super close to all the hotspots. Loved it.
