Imagine this: popping open a bottle of champagne while eating creme brulee sitting on the window fence looking out over the sun setting in over the Manhattan skyline while having some classic girl talk. That’s how the experience at the Paul hotel began and it definitely set the tone for the rest of our stay!
Man oh Man, LOCATION
Madison Square, fifth avenue, the Empire! All just a short walk away from the Paul. The lively NoMad distrrict really has it all! I get so high on energy whenever I’m in New York and staying exactly in the midst of the buzz is such a good feeling. We spend our first night at the Paul working in our room, but after getting some serious sugar cravings, we decided to head out to buy doughnuts. A total must in order to stay awake after just 4 hours of sleep the previous night! The perks of big city life: everything is always open. The downside? The 24/7 lifestyle in New York makes it very tempting on us to: 1) not work enough and 2) not getting enough rest. But hey, that’s a luxury problem. So getting back to the topic of location: You’re really all set at the Paul.
Who’s Paul?
The Paul’s interior and ambiance is best described as young, arty, fun and quirky. An element we really loved is the inspirational quotes to be found throughout the hotel, from messages on the carpets or outside just beneath the entrance. “In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make”. The rooms in the Paul aren’t large, but the cool setting and view definitely make up for it. We stayed on the 22nd floor and faced the south view on the beautiful skyline and Freedom Tower; especially at dusk when the sky turned pink-ish red it was truly magical to witness! The room was a fun colour palette of red, white, a bit of wooden and let’s of playful details and different textures both on the floor and walls. Our interior favourite? The roller blinds with skyline print!
Breakfast, please.
Breakfast is served at the lobby floor and the space is a very funky one; lots of mirrors, graphic shapes and a comforting, spacy feel. A very fun setting to start your day! During the warmer seasons it’s also possible to have breakfast outside on the terrace. Despite the week of December we were here being incredibly glorious (hello sunshine all day and every day!), 10 degrees celcius is just a little too chilly!
Concluding…
The Paul is a great mix between a central location, cool interior and accessible, friendly staff that are happy to cater for whatever it is you may need. Our tip? definiely spend at least one evening watching the sunset from your window over the New York skyline whilst sipping on a glass of wine: it’s pure bliss!
