6 Reasons to Follow your dreams

We all dream about living a crazy, amazing, fantastic life but too often it stays just that: dreaming. When you’re old, you’ll be looking back on your life with regrets. Things you haven’t done. Chances you didn’t take. Not living the life of your dreams can be subject to personal circumstances, not enough motivation or listening too much to the opinions of others. At FashionContainer, we have the spirit that nothing is impossible until you give up. Because we feel so passionately about this topic, here are 5 reasons why you have to chase your dreams.

1. Realistic

You might be surprised that this is the first thing we point out, but chasing dreams has everything to do with being realistic. Otherwise it will be exactly that: chasing. With the dream “I want to be rich”, nobody has ever become rich.

2. No other option

In order to make serious changes in our lives, we often need to be pushed to the edge of insanity first. You’re doing what’s expected, you go to university, you get a degree. Then you find yourself living a proper “grown up” life with a job and responsibilities. A few months or years in, (if it never happens to you, go you!) you wake up one day and you realize that the life you’re living isn’t really what you want. The more time goes by, the stronger you realize that living a life that makes you miserable feels much like suicide. It’s often at that stage, when we’re down on our knees that we realize: I have no other choice than to follow my dreams.

3. It makes you happy

Everybody wants to be happy and how can you be happy living a life that doesn’t reflect who you are? You might be putting your own dreams aside for someone else or maybe you’ve simply decided that living life the “safe” way was the best choice. At the end of the day, you’ll be the one dealing with the consequences of not living a life that makes you happy so it might be time to reconsider the reasons why you’re not doing what you really want to be doing. Embrace adventure, you only live once, you might not even figure out in one day what it is exactly that makes you happy. You’ll also go through a lot of ups and downs. But at least you’re doing something that makes you happy or you’re making an effort to find what makes you happy in case you don’t know what will.

4. You believe in it

If you’re going to do anything that’s considered “out of the box”, be aware that you’ll be rejected many times. Many people won’t believe in you. Maybe they’ll even make fun of you. Just always know that much of what other people think about your capabilities (or lack thereof) has much to do with themselves rather than with you. Plus, there’s always jealousy. In the end, you have to believe in what you do and you’re the only one who can make it happen.

5. Control your fear

So many people play life “safe” while everyone deep down wants to get more out of life than they actually do. Stop being a sheep and stop following the crowd. Stand up for what you really want to achieve in life. Of course it’s terrifying and uncertain, but in the end you’ll be looking back on your life knowing that you got everything out of life.

6. You’ll never have regrets

If you’ve followed your dreams, you can never look back on your life with the thought: “what if”. Because you did it. Regardless of the outcome of the things you’ve chased. It could be love, a career, your passion. Anything!
