5 most annoying things people do on a plane

Some people love flying, others hate it or are even terrified of it. Personally I don’t mind flying, I actually think it can be quite relaxing at times. After a month of travelling in the US and countless flights, my memory got refreshed once again about the things that annoy me terribly while on a flight. Here’s what I’m thinking…

1. Cry, Cry, baby…
The nightmare during every flight: a baby that doesn’t stop crying. I’m totally aware of the fact that parents can’t do much about it, but sitting on an 8 hour flight from Amsterdam to New York with a crying baby behind you is everything but relaxing.

2. Stinky winky
Let’s admit it, I’m super sensitive for smells. It gets that bad that a bad smell literally makes me want to throw up and I’m not even exaggerating. When there’s someone sitting next to me with a pretty intense sweat smell, I’m always wondering how I’m going to make it to my destination without throwing up.

3. Luggage space

Whenever I get on a plane, I always wonder why people don’t get the concept of using the on board luggage space efficiently. Bags that have been thrown into the cabinets randomly, not keeping in mind that another person might want to store their bag there too. Or people that starting to stuff in their jackets and 101 other things that could easily be placed underneath their seat. But then when you ask who’s stuff it is and if they’d be kind enough to move it so you can store your bag, nobody answers.

4. Just make it clap
Whoever came up with the idea of applauding after a plane has just landed needs a slap in the face. We don’t applaud for the train driver who safely took us from Amsterdam to Deventer? Then why clap for a landed plane? Please someone explain.

5. Life stories
Sure, sometimes it can be nice to have a casual chat with your next door neighbour on a plane. But sometimes, well… you’re just not in the mood. There have been so many times that people have started to tell me their entire life story and at the same time expect me to share mine too. No, I don’t want to know why your wife left you and I definitely am not interested to hear the thousand reasons why life in Singapore is so much better than in the United States.

Now we want to hear your side of the story. What’s the most annoying thing  that ever happened to you while on a plane? Let it out!
